Good morning loves, last and certainly not least in my best products of 2016… is face. I’m a person that doesn’t like to change their face products often. When I find a concealer or foundation or powder that I like, I’ll stick to it. You’ll never find me experimenting with foundation because I hate discovering new foundations. If it’s not broken why fix it ? A lot of these products are things I’ve been using for a long time.
Black Opal Invisible Oil Blocking Mattifier ($10)
It’s no secret that I have oily skin. I’ve never been one to get in the habit of using primer, it’s a step that I usually forget in my routine. This primer is one of the few “mattfying” primer that actually keeps me matte. I appreciate something that prolongs the wear of my foundation.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator in So Hollywood ($28)
I gag over this highlighter every time I wear it. It’s a shiny true gold that looks amazing on medium to deep skin tones. I can’t get over how beautiful this is. If you want to pick this up, I’d suggest doing it soon because this product is limited edition.
M.A.C Face and Body Foundation 120ml in C4 ($38)
I’ve been a die-hard user of face and body for over three years. It’s a natural foundation that actually looks like skin. I was never a huge fan of the foundation looking like paint trend, so this is my go to. If I ever want to bump up the coverage, I’ll add a drop or two of the cover fx custom cover drops. It keeps the foundation feeling light, while still having a fuller coverage.
SheaMoisture Illuminating Bronzer in Cinnamon ($15)
This bronzer was also a new for me. I discovered SheaMositure cosmetics through Jackie Aina. She recommended this brand because she created the B.O.M.B challenge. Which is a challenge to do your entire face with makeup that is black owned. I picked this bronzer up as part of the challenge and I haven’t put it down. It has the tiniest bit of shimmer that adds a healthy glow to skin.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray ($7)
I don’t usually like rose scented products. It smells like old lady perfume and I hate it. The rose scent on this isn’t strong, which is why I can tolerate it. I spray this in between layers of foundation and powder. It leaves your skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. If I went a little heavy-handed with powder, I’ll spray this on my face and the excess powder goes away.
M.A.C Select Cover-Up in NC30 ($20)
This concealer is the less cakey and natural version of prolong wear concealer. I use this for when I want to cover up my under eye without using a lighter concealer. It has a thin liquid consistency, which I like because I don’t ever feel like I’m putting too much on.
Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer in Neutralizer ($9)
I use this concealer to mix with my summer foundation and concealer shades. I take off the sponge tip because I think it’s gross to have concealer caked in a sponge. You also end up wasting less product. It works as a good shade adjuster.
Milani Baked Blush in Bellissimo Bronze & Rose D’Oro ($8)
Milani makes some of my favorite cheek products from the drugstore. Their baked blushes are one of my all time favorite blushes. These two blushes are the blushes that I use the most out of my entire collection. If I don’t know what blush to use, I’ll pick up one of these.
Ben Nye Neutral Set Colorless Face Powder 3.0 oz ($11)
I use this powder for everything, to bake, to set eye primer and to set foundation. It comes in shaker, but I sprinkle it on a flat surface and then apply it with a kabuki brush. If I happen to have any streaks due to using a brush, this powder will blur that out. It keeps me matte all day.
M.A.C Prep + Prime Fix+ ($23)
I fuck with this spray so hard. It feels so nice on the skin and it looks amazing. I spray this on my face after primer and before foundation, which adds a burst of hydration. If you’re going to buy anything from this, buy fix+. It’s such a versatile product, you can use this with loose powders, dampen a beauty sponge or to blend out liquid products. Get you some.
